Charles Oppermann

  • Pilot in Command of the Spirit of America, Operations Director for Flight Across America
  • Born October 19, 1965 (age 36)
  • Will visit on parents Carl and Suzanne, in Spring Hill, Florida during trip
  • Father was pilot of C-47's in World War II
  • Took first flight lesson at the age of 13  - set of the Emergency Locator Transmitter on first landing
  • Pilot's certificate at the age of 25
  • Worked at Microsoft from 1994 on Windows and Internet Explorer, helping making Microsoft products more useful for people with disabilities.  Retired in late 1999
  • Bought airplane in 2000, have flown over 400 hours in it since then, including one trip across the country in July 2001
  • Currently working on second programming book for Microsoft
