Wednesday, August 21 - AirLifeLine,  the oldest and largest national volunteer pilot organization in the United States, with over 1,400 volunteer pilots nationwide, has graciously offered to assist the Flight Across America Flag Bearers in case they are not able to complete the flight to New York because of illness or medical issues, mechanical issues, mishaps, or other unforeseen circumstances.

Sunday, August 11 - Flight Across America kicks off!  Across the country, pilots took to the skies Sunday beginning the month-long celebration of flight and memorial to those affected by the 9/11 attack.  The opening ceremony at Paine Field in Everett, Washington was attended by hundreds with dozens of aircraft flying in, then flying out across the state.  Notable speakers, including Erik Lindbergh and author John Nance were joined with local celebrities and elected politicians.  All spoke movingly about the importance of aviation to the nations heritage and future.  Read more...

Thursday, July 25 - Erik Lindbergh will be the keynote speaker for the Flight Across America opening ceremonies, August 11 at Paine Field in Everett, Washington.  A pilot and flight instructor, Erik recently commemorated the 75th anniversary of his grandfather's own solo flight across America and Atlantic ocean.  More...

Wednesday, July 24 - Molly @ AirVenture 2002!  Molly Peebles, Flight Across America's Executive Director, is promoting the project at the Experimental Aircraft Association's yearly AirVenture convention, better known as "Oshkosh."  Yesterday she was interviewed for the daily newspaper of the event.  More...

Monday, July 22 - The aircraft carrier USS Intrepid, the Sea-Air-Space museum docked in Manhattan will be the site of the State Flag presentation.  The fifty state flags, flown to the NYC area by chosen flag bearers, will be presented to representatives of the people of New York City.  More...

First state flag bearers chosen!  After review of the many wonderful and highly qualified applications.  State Flag Coordinator Kirk Kleinholz and Molly Peebles have selected the first set of flag bearers.  Applications are still needed for the remaining states.  Visit State Flags section for details...

Details on the State Flag Bearer portion of the Flight Across America are now available.  Choose the State Flags link on the left from any page, read the requirements and considerations and then apply to represent your state!
