Iowa Flag Bearer

John Dion

Introduction

My name is John Dion. I am the designated, and, I must say, very proud flag bearer for the State of Iowa. I have been reading all your e-mails and profiles and am very excited to be involved in what has grown to be a huge groundswell of interest and dedicated participation on everyone's part. Molly Peebles must be very proud of what she has created in bringing the world of General Aviation together to honor all heroes of the 9/11 tragedy. She has also made us more aware and thankful for the freedoms we enjoy.

Enclosed are pictures of the Iowa Flag presentation by a representative of the Department of Transportation/Aviation in behalf of the Governor.

I have also enclosed a collection of some of the pictures that were taken inside and outside The World Trade Center on September 10, 2001. I had lunch in the North Tower on the 107th floor at the Windows on the World restaurant with my daughter and a pilot friend. We took quite a few pictures that day, perhaps the last taken of the WTC before 9/11. I want to share these with all of you. They are being e-mailed to all Flag Bearers for printing on 8 1/2 X 11 paper. Make as many copies as you like.

I'm looking forward to meeting with everyone and wish you all a safe and memorable flight.
